VILLAGE HALL

QUIZ NIGHT – SATURDAY 14th MARCH

Organised by SOFOS, a Quiz night will be held in the Village Hall on Saturday 14th March. Doors and the Bar open at 7.00pm with excellent wines and beers on sale. The Quiz commences at 7.30pm with teams of four. Delicious pub-style dishes will be served at 8.30pm. The cost is £10 per head to take part in the Quiz and enjoy the gastronomic delights!

TUTORED CHEESE & WINE TASTING – SATURDAY 18th APRIL

Jackie Dyer will talk you through several cheese and wine matches focusing on cheeses from South West England. Jackie has 15 years’ experience in the wine trade, is qualified to Level 3 in the Wine & Spirit Education Trust and is an Associate Member of the newly created Cheese Academy, having passed their Level 1 exam with full marks in September 2019. She will embark on the Level 2 exam in March 2020 to become a full member. https://academyofcheese.org.

COMMONWEALTH DAY

Commonwealth Day will be celebrated on Monday 9th March. We will gather in the churchyard at 09.45 where a message from the Secretary General of the Commonwealth will be read out. Rev Tim Heaton will then read out the Commonwealth Affirmation and the Commonwealth flag will be raised at 10.00. After the ceremony bubbles and coffee will be available in the church.


VE DAY 75th ANNIVERSARY

The 75th Anniversary of VE Day will be celebrated on Friday 8th May. This will be a national celebration and the early May Bank Holiday has been moved from 4th May to the 8th May to accommodate this. Details have still to be finalised but will include a BBQ, Bar and the Beacon lighting in the field next to the Village Hall. We will combine with Milton on Stour and all residents of both villages with their friends and families are most welcome. It is anticipated that the Beacon will be lit at 6.00pm.
