The Darien Gap Breakthrough

The Pan American Highway running from Alaska to Cape Horn is broken in Panama and Colombia by the infamous Darien Gap, a 100km stretch of dense rainforest and swamp.

In 1972, an international team of servicemen and scientists set out to change that: the first drive from Alaska to Cape Horn, and the first vehicle crossing of the complete gap — conducting vital research along the way.
